Welcome Elise Barwick!
Elise Barwick joins South Adelaide.
The South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that Tassie native Elise Barwick will be a Panther for the 2023 Hostplus SANFL Women's League season.
The 23-year old comes across from North Hobart where she played in their 2022 Premiership, kicking 2 goals and being named best on ground.
Barwick is an athletic forward/mid who can use her quick pace and also hit the scoreboard.
When asked about why Barwick wanted to join the Panthers, she highlights the welcoming culture as one of the key factors.
"My decision to come to South Adelaide was definitely made through the amazing people at South, particularly Rick, Jono and Bri who made me feel so included right from the get go and have been so supportive with my move over." Said Elise Barwick
"I’ve also got two really close friends who have been with South Adelaide for a year now and absolutely love the club so that also helped me in making my decision. "
"I’m most looking forward to playing and training in a professional environment. Seeing how I compare to the competitions best and taking in as much as I can from the more experienced girls and club leaders to try and make myself a better player and team mate.""I started playing footy at a much later age compared to other girls and unfortunately unless you fall in the under 18’s bracket in Tassie you don’t really have any opportunities to play at a high level. This opportunity has made me feel so grateful for all the extra time my Family (especially my Dad) had to give up to get me where I am.
"I am so excited to experience playing in the SANFLW competition and to see how it compares to my competition down home."
"I’d say the strongest part of my game would be my speed. I love to receive the ball on the outside where I can get it and go and hopefully open up the play. "
"I am pinching myself at the fact I’ve been given an opportunity to play in the SANFLW"

Barwick also has an existing connection to the Panthers through fellow Tasmanian native Harrison Gunther, which was one of the many key factors in Elise deciding to join South Adelaide.
"We're really excited to welcome Elise to the South Adelaide Football Club" Said Senior Coach Rick Watts
"After meeting with Elise it was clear that her values aline with ours and that she will be a great fit within our program"
"She has explosive pace and speed on the outside but can also be dangerous up forward, providing us with even more options"
"We welcome Elise and her family to the club"
