Our Under-18s bounced back to claim a 16.8 (104) to 7.6 (48) revenge victory over North Adelaide at Prospect Oval on Saturday afternoon.
This week was a great opportunity to redeem ourselves after last week's performance.
We travelled to Prospect for the second week in a row and everything about the performance was reversed.
We had eight changes to the side, most of which were forced due to school football or injury. This gave us a chance to play three new players in Harry Spacie, Mitchell Riddle and Phoenix Spicer.
All three players were a part of our successful Under-17 State Youth Championship side, which won the Power Division of the program.
There was a different feel in the changeroom before the game and that translated to the way we started on field, kicking seven goals to one. We couldn't have asked for any more from the boys.
The best part was we had six goal scorers and first gamer Riddle was our only multiple goal kicker with two.
North came out and controlled the football for the first half of the second quarter. However, our young defence held strong only letting one goal through. We ended up kicking three for the quarter through Damon Freitag, Joel Beeche and Job Colwell.
After half time Daniel Sladojevic came out and controlled the game, kicking four goals for the quarter, while last weeks Under-18 Competition MVPJake Tarca chipped in kicking his first.
Meanwhile, Luke Bogle continued to rack up possessions and important clearances.
The last quarter was a bit of a non-event. North showed some fight and our guys just held on.
We only kicked one for the quarter through Sladojevic, but we had done the work early in the game.
We are very pleased with the performance especially from our young players, and the win gives us some breathing space in second with only three games to go.
We are back at home this weekend as we take on Norwood from 11.30am on Saturday, August 4.
