A tough day at the office for the South Adelaide Under-18s, with the side falling to a 113-point loss at the hands of the ladder-leading Tigers at ACH Group Stadium on Saturday.
It was just one of those games where nothing seemed to go right for the boys in the blue and white. The Panthers, who despite refusing to give up, just could not match it with the undefeated Tigers, 5.6 (36) to 23.11 (149).
One positive for the Panthers was the continued performance of their Under-16 premiership duo, Jack Delean and Tom Schirmer, with these boys combining for all of the Panthers' six goals. Isaac Birt was also a strong contributor, finishing with 21 disposals and 9 marks.
The Panthers matched it with the ladder leaders during the opening term, with Schirmer and Delean both kicking their first goals of the match midway through the term to give South Adelaide an early lead.
However, two late goals just before the first break saw Glenelg retake the leadand they would carry this lead till the final siren.
Despite the final result, the Panthers only had 9 less inside 50s and 11 less clearances than their opponents, which shows the boys were still fighting and getting their hands on the footy.
South Adelaide's Under-18s will look to bounce back when they face off against Central District at X Convenience Oval on Saturday, 29 May, from 11:30am.
