Joseph Haines calls time on his career.
Joseph Haines has advised the Club that he will be retiring from SANFL Football.
A third generation Panther, Haines debuted for Club in 2013 and has gone on to register 137 games and 11 goals.
The defender earnt South Adelaide Football Club's top honor when he was awarded the 2022 Knuckey Cup after a standout year.
Haines' contribution to the club was recognised when he inducted as a Life Member of the South Adelaide Football Club at the 2023 Knuckey Cup.
Haines made his League debut in Round 11 2013 against the Eagles. He would be in and out of the side until 2017, when he would establish his spot in the League side.
When reflecting on his time with the club, Haines is honoured to have had played at the same club as his Father and Grandfather.
"I feel both very proud and privileged to play at the South Adelaide Football Club over the last 11 years." Said Joseph Haines.
"This has been made even more special with my family connection to the club through both my Grandpa and Dad careers at the club."
"Moving to Adelaide from Waikerie, the club became a home away from home and I’ll be forever grateful for the people I’ve met and friendships I’ve made along the way."
Joseph and his partner Sophie welcomed their son Lenny in September, and will be looking to spend more time with his young family.
"Although I’m moving on, I’ll enjoy spending more time with my family and following the clubs journey to its next premiership success."
Senior Coach Jarrad Wright said that Haines' hard work and commitment over the past 6 seasons is what led him to be one of the star players in the competition.
"Joey can be really proud of his journey at the footy club." Said Senior Coach Jarrad Wright.
"Most people probably don't know of the amount of hard work he's put in, and how resilient Joey has been over the journey, especially when he was developing in the reserves through his early part of his career."
"What we have seen the past 6 years was the bi product of how hard Joey has worked to become a star of the competition."
"He is a loved person throughout the club and will be very much missed, we wish Joey, Sophie & Lenny all the best in starting their young family."
