Panthers Under-18s fall to Sturt.
The Under-18s were looking for revenge after their previous loss to Central District, faced with a hard task against Sturt in a mid-week clash under lights, it was nothing the boys weren’t up to.
In the first term, Sturt would start strong as the Under-18s would struggle to contain the run from the middle and half back.
With that, the boys made sure to bounce back and would turn it on later in the quarter.
Zebadiah Sinclair, Jake Agnew, and Tyson Roberts all fired away in succession, which gave the boys all the momentum, setting themselves up well for the next term.
Sturt struggled to move the footy and it was clear the boys were well structured headed in.
At the end of the quarter, the Under-18s were up by 6-points.
Cohen Shortridge started the quarter with a bang as his goal on the move was all class.
From that point, the game would do a complete 180 and fall into Sturt’s favour, firing away and putting the panthers down at the half.
It was hard to stop the run they were providing, and the skills were quick and precise.
The half would end with the Panthers down by 20-points.
In the third, the momentum the opposition had created rolled through as Sturt would dominate most of the term.
Down back, the boys did well to mitigate the possible damage, not giving up and hitting the contests hard.
It wasn’t until the dying moments that the Panthers would get a major on the board. Oliver Goss providing the desperately needed score with a dribble kick out the contest.
Another tough term would see the boys end the quarter down by 39-points.
It was going to be tough to amount a comeback in the last term and Shortridge did all he could with his major towards the start of the term, alongside his team high 24 disposals.
Sturt would keep firing and make it a major challenge for the boys down back, around the contest, however, it looked quite even.
Goss would deliver a second major, but it wasn’t enough, the lack of scoring shots made it hard for the boys to provide a response.
As the siren sounded the Under-18s would go down by 47-points, a loss which the boys will look to roll on from.
Their next chance for a win will come against North Adelaide on Saturday the 1st of June at Flinders University Stadium in a 1:50pm timeslot.

Panthers Under-16s fall to Sturt.
In the Under-16's last contest, they suffered a tough loss and it was time for redemption against a formidable Sturt side in a mid-week clash for their Round 8 contest.
The boys started the game strong, putting their stamp on it early with Zemes Holmes kicking the first major.
It was looking great throughout the middle in the first half of the term with the back half locking up early.
The pressure would lift, and Sturt would fire away, putting a sour note on what was a great start, leaving the squad down by 12-points.
During the second term, all the momentum was in Sturt's favour as they extended their lead.
That being said, the Under-16s had their chances up forward but were inaccurate, a theme which was prevalent in this contest.
It was hard to contain the run of the opposition, but it was clear the boys were locking up as best they could.
At the half the squad was down by 27-points, with more to play, it was still possible to make a comeback.
Similarly to the first, the Panthers started the third term with a bang. Cain Florance was a weapon in this game and his two majors to start the third added to his display.
Making his presence known up forward and in the guts, he’d end the contest with a team high 25 disposals.
The attack didn’t stop, although not damaging with any more majors, it was looking like the boys were going to swing this contest back into their favour quickly, but it wasn’t meant to be.
It was an effort to stop the siege from the double blues, they’d pile on the score and by the end of the term leave the Under-16s down by 34-points with one quarter left.
It would be a defensive start to the term with both sides struggling to get around, however, Sturt would win the tug-of-war and leave the Panthers further in the dust.
When the boys had possession it was looking clean, making use of their quick kicks.
The inaccuracy around the sticks came back to bite the Under-16s as they finished with 12 minor scores.
Hudson Boal was a pressure king in the contest with his 8 tackles.
The final siren would sound and the Under-16s would end up going down by 59-points.
Their next contest will come against North Adelaide on Saturday the 1st of June at Flinders University Stadium in an 11:30am timeslot.
