South Under-18s Fall to the Bloods
The Under-18s haven’t had a good run the last few weeks, as they were looking to break their losing streak.
Faced against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium, the side were looking to get back in the winner’s circle.
It was a less than ideal start, as the opposition got to work early making it hard for the Under-18s.
Getting forward was an issue as the defence was strong. The Panther’s backline was under siege for most of the term, trying their best to stop the game from blowing out.
The boys would end the term down by 34-points, giving themselves a tough task.
It was a wakeup call for the team, as they’d finally make a dash at the scoreboard in the second term.
Joseph Petrucci and Jake Agnew would break the drought, securing their first majors of the day.
Despite this, West Adelaide were dominant around the ground and extended the lead further into their favour.
It was tough going. Every possession was a challenge, with some passages being great indicators of this.
The end of the half would see South down by 47-points. Changes were going to be needed to make a comeback.
In the third quarter, there was a shift with the boys as they did well to go on a run.
It was a slow start but during the middle section of the term, Ryan Borlace, Joel Cartwright and Hudson Voigt would kick majors in succession of one another.
The boys did well to lock it down in this term, and it was clear this quarter was owned by the Panthers.
It would end with the opposition up by 37-points, a margin which would prove to be extensive.
Oliver Goss would kick one early but this is where the offence would stop, as West Adelaide got back into the driver’s seat for the remainder of the term.
Nothing could be done to amass a comeback. In the loss, Cohen Shortridge would lead disposal getters with a healthy 24.
The Under-18s next contest is against Norwood on Saturday the 10th of August at Flinders University stadium in a 1:50pm timeslot.

It was impressive to see the boys playing with such freedom and making every possession impactful.

The momentum rolled through into the third quarter, as the Panthers continued to dominate.
