Panther Under-18s go down to the Roosters.

The Under-18s returned to Flinders University Stadium to face the Roosters for the second week in a row.

It was a less than ideal start for the squad in the first, North doing well to navigate forward and finish on their opportunities.

Cohen Shortridge would kick the first in the midst of the barrage, doing well to get around the ball and finish his hard work.

The defensive lines were more structured, and it made for better aerial contests, impressive displays of courage and fight were seen on the ground as well.

Ryan Borlace kicked a major to finish off the second quarter cutting the margin to 7 at the main break.

North came out strong in the third kicking 2.3 to push the margin to 21 before Tom Simpson would kick one late to keep it close at the final change.

North would come out and kick 4 goals in a row to start the last before Ben Dittmar nailed one thanks to a clean pick up and was able to roll it home.

Down back the boys did what they could to stop the bleeding, but another 3 goal burst from North would finish the game.

Skipper Jacob Sheean was impressive with 19 disposals.

A tough blow, but the Under-18s will look towards their contest against West Adelaide on Saturday the 27th at Hisense Stadium in a 1:50 pm timeslot.

Clifton, Clark, Edwards. C.Florance, K.Shortridge

Pilot, K.Shortridge 3, Edwards 2, Van Dyk

After beating North Adelaide in their last game, the boys were faced with the same opponent on the home deck in their round 14 clash.

In the first term the boys ran away with it, determined to win against this team two weeks in a row.

It was a smooth display of footy connecting on kicks and using the outlet pass well. The transition out the back half particularly effective.

Zemes Pilot and Kodah Edwards would kick their first major, while Kody Shortridge would get on the end of two, giving the boys a nudge in the right direction.

North would reply late but the boys worked hard to give themselves the 20-point lead headed into the second term.

It would tighten up in the second quarter as North switched on, it was a contested footy, the boys making use of their chances when they were faced with them.

Up forward the boys did well to get it through the big sticks, Edwards and Pilot second majors helped the boys in their siege, while Archie Van Dyk slotted his first major in the term, he’d also end with a staggering 32 disposals.

It was a battle down back; the backline doing well to work back and alleviate some damage.

North would manage to equalise the Under-16s scoring output leaving the half at a 20-point margin once again.

In the third quarter it was a close and it was clear this game was gearing up to go down to the wire.

North would partially close the gap, adding some pressure to the squad, it was tough getting up forward, everyone playing their part to try and keep the game from getting too close.

Pilot would slot his third in a display of pure class late in the quarter, helping in bringing the game to a 13-point margin at the end of the third.

It all came down to the last, North doing well to bring the contest right back into contention.

Shortridge got on the end of his third in the midst of the madness, plenty of time still on the clock.

As it turned out North would unload late and bring the game to a dead heat, a few late points was enough to get them over the line, despite the efforts of the defensive players.

After being up most of the game the Under-16s would sadly lose by 2-points.

Their next contest will be against West Adelaide on Saturday the 27th at Hisense Stadium in a 11:30 am timeslot.
