The Pinktails/Redtails Cup
The South Adelaide Football Club and the North Adelaide Football Club are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program Cup.
This Sunday marks the inaugural match for the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program Cup, with two best-on-ground medals to be awarded to standout players from each team.
For the past four years, both clubs have proudly hosted players from the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program, which offers footballers from the Northern Territory opportunities to play high-level football in the SANFLW and SANFL.
The Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program engages remote men and women aged 14-40 in Central Australia through education, health, and employment support and leveraging their passion for AFL football.
Founded by Ian McAdam and Rob Clarke, the program combines literacy, numeracy, mental health, and job readiness training with AFL to build confidence and leadership. The Central Australian Football Club ensures participation in education or employment as a condition for playing, integrating intensive mentoring and community improvement.
Rob Clarke, President of the Central Australian Football Club, has been instrumental in fostering the relationship between South Adelaide, North Adelaide, and SANFL. He expressed his excitement about the new cup.
“It’s absolutely fantastic that South & North Adelaide Football Clubs have come together to organise and promote the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program through this dedicated cup and best-on-ground medal this Sunday,” said Rob Clarke.
“A huge thank you and appreciation go to North, South Adelaide, and the SANFL for the partnership and opportunities they have collectively given to so many Centralians.”
Rob Clarke highlighted the program's impact.
"Now in its fourth season, we’ve had over 50 Centralians playing in trial matches or season games, with significant achievements including premiership players and Grand Finalists."
"More importantly, we value the incredible positive influence it has had off the field in sustainable and life-changing ways.”
This Sunday, seven Pinktail and Redtail players will be in action:
- Kaleel Ross in the Reserves with the Panthers Reserves
- Lara Harding and Sarah Steele-Park for North Adelaide
- Caitlin Couch, Doreena Hansen, and Jordann Hickey for South Adelaide
- Nigel Lockyer for North Adelaide in the League match
South Adelaide Female Football Manager Jonathon Parker expressed his pride in the partnership.
“We’re really proud of our partnership with the Pinktails to provide these players with great opportunities to play high-level football." said Jonathon Parker
"This partnership has fostered significant growth and development in the players’ games."
"This will be a special occasion and something we look forward to continuing in the years to come.”
"I would also like to acknowledge Rob Clarke and all the amazing work he does behind the scenes in making the RPRTP run so smoothly"
