After last week’s dominant win over North Adelaide, the Reserves looked to continue their form against Norwood on a King’s Birthday Clash.
Nic Dunshea kicked off proceedings for the day slotting his first of the day which was followed by Sam Hindes who was hoping to back up his three-goal performance from the previous week.
Norwood quickly replied with two goals, evening up the scores.
Angus Bradley would then make his return to football known securing his first goal after a long-term injury.
Another Norwood goal would again level the scores heading into the first break of the game.
In a highly contested second quarter, there was much back and forth between the two ends of the ground with Nick Kramer and Dylan Brown combining for 19 tackles throughout the game. Charlie Duncan kicked the only major for the second quarter, handing the Panthers a seven-point lead into the main break.
After a contested second quarter, the Panthers were ready to take on the game in the third. However, Norwood had other plans with all the action in their forward line for the start of the quarter. Key defenders in Aaron Douglass, Ray Harding, and Tate Lovering remained composed under pressure, only allowing one Norwood major in that time.
While the contest remained tight with high levels of pressure, Dunshea and Isaac Birt were able to find the ball and secure a goal each in the third keeping the Panthers in the game with only a ten-point deficit heading into the final quarter.
Harding kicked off the final quarter finding himself up forward and kicking his first goal of the game edging the Panthers closer.
A period of congested play allowed Ollie Megins to rack up 25 disposals and 37 hit outs for the match and Scott Bedford collected a match-leading 4 marks.
The Panthers defence remained strong with Douglass, Harding, Lovering, Kyan Smith and Lachlan Scott forcing Norwood to fail in scoring a major in the last quarter.
Jonti Schuback and Birt would combine for the final three goals of the match, securing the Reserves fifth win of the season.
The Reserves will look to continue their form after the Bye when they again take on Norwood on Saturday June 24th at 11:30am.
