Full Time on Season 2024

Another milestone ticked over in the last game of the year, Liam Fitt lacing up for his 100th game.

The league side struggled to start, finding themselves chasing the opposition.

Inaccuracies would also hinder the performance of the Panthers, missing out on key opportunities.

By the end of the term the Panthers were down by 23-points.

Damon Freitag got the Panthers on the board and followed it up 3 minutes later to cut the margin to 12.

As the quarter continued it slipped away once again in a sad shift.

The boys down back doing what they could. the high-pressure and constant entries making it a major challenge.

Siren sounded on the half and the boys were down by 47-points.

Unfortunately, it didn’t shift in the third as Glenelg continued to pile it on, leaving the them comfortably in control.

Eamon Wilkinson would get on the end of one late, a transition play which saw the boys roll the dice and put their burners on, Wilkinson doing well to finish while on the move.

The struggles in front of goals continued in the third, costing them in the long run.

82-points was the margin at the end of the quarter, a deficit which would continue to grow by the end of the game.

Across the ground Oliver Davis was noticeable as he would end with a team high 26 disposals on a dismal day.

It just wasn’t the league sides day, leaving the season ending on a sour note. The Panthers going down in a 118-point loss.

The Reserves were looking to head into finals in form, a win against Glenelg away from home would be the icing on the cake for the Panthers on their great regular season.

Conditions couldn’t be more ideal for the boys as they laced up and took the field.

In the first term it was competitive as could be, the Reserves doing well to stream forward early and put the pressure on.

Finally securing the first major of the day off of Jacob Sheean’s boot, this starting the back-and-forth affair that transpired.

The boys kept it locked up tight around the ground the contested ball winning being a key contributor to their efforts in the first.

Zac Dumesny would secure a major in classy fashion and allow the squad to head into the second term up by 2-points.

It would seem that the Reserves were just getting into gear during the first as they would absolutely dominate in the second.

Nothing was getting in their way as they sieged and put the opposition to the sword.

Blake Rodrigues and Dakota Sterzl would get one in the flurry, Dumesny would see his second sail through and the major contributor in this effort Ryan Borlace would kick three impactful goals.

It was a team effort in getting this to happen, down back the boys were smooth, the kicking out this area of the ground completely opening up the ground for the rest of the team to operate.

Glenelg would struggle to get anything going, allowing the Reserves to head into the second half up by 33-points.

In what was a compete turn of events Glenelg would respond in a big way and bring the contest right back into contention.

The boys struggled with getting clean possession, and a few simple errors would cost the squad in a big way.

Zak Keir replied with his major at the start of the term while Cohen Shortridge would put in the work and secure his first, and Dumesny would fire again doing well to lock in his third to bring the game back into the panthers favour late.

It was a matter of locking back in for the Reserves, with a quarter to play and a 15-point margin the stage was set for a climactic finish.

The fourth quarter was a defensive display, both sides struggling to work their way through. The Panthers capitalise on their lead and did well at ground level.

Sterzl would kick the only major for the squad, in what would turn out to be a critical moment.

Down back Riley Jones did well to work his magic as he sealed off his day with 21 disposals.

As it turned out Glenelg were inaccurate, this would end up costing them as they would go down by 9-points in an absolute belter to end the regular season.

With that the Reserves were headed into finals on fire, ready to take on Woodville-West Torrens in the Elimination final.

They will play on Saturday the 31st of August at Flinders University Stadium in an 11:30am timeslot.
