Panthers held goalless in a tough night on the Parade
The women’s league side have been playing some great football lately. After a win against Centrals in round 7 they were looking to continue this form against a tough Norwood side.
In the first term Norwood were firing putting it all out on the field kicking two majors.
It was clear South were behind the play and was letting the opposition play their brand of football.
The Panthers ended the term down 14-points as they were unable to score. Matching Norwood was proving to be a task.
Throughout the second quarter there was flashes of skills which impressed, Nicole Campbell who’d end the contest with 20 disposals putting on a show around the ground.
The side was struggling for most of this term as they were once again unable to score as the heat from the opposition was fierce.
It was proving to be a task in this contest as Norwood would kick one major in the term and extended their lead to 20-points.
The scoring shots started to come during the third quarter which was positive to see, the Panthers managing to score two points in the term.
With that however it was clear the movement forward was improving. Caitlin Couch was a catalyst for this as she was impressive in the third quarter.
She’d end the contest with 20-disposals.
Norwood would get forward and extend their lead with a major and was able to go into the final term up by 26-points.
During the fourth the pressure was up, and the Panthers would do well to keep the opposition scoreless.
Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap was relentless finishing with a team high 17 tackles, the team as a whole would have 105 tackles, a major effort.
With this pressure it would lead to forward entires, unfortunately the squad was only able to kick one point.
Leaving this contest out of reach, losing to Norwood by 25-points.
The womens league side’s next contest will be against Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday the 11th of May in a 4:50pm timeslot.
