A Big Second Half Locks Up Top Spot for the Panthers.

It’s really heating up for as the Panthers took on Glenelg in a top of the table clash in the penultimate round.

The first quarter was intense as both sides were gauging each other with intent.

It was clear the Panthers were looking to move it with pace and get the opposition off guard early.

Doreena Hansen provided a great deal in this quarter with her two majors late, allowing the girls to get some stress off the shoulder and begin to play their style of footy.

With a 12-point lead the squad looked to separate themselves in the second.

It was still a tight contest in the second the Panthers doing well to keep their lead despite the play from Glenelg.

The backline kept strong and mitigate the damage well, making sure to rebound from the tough position.

Emily Brockhurst, Mel Anderson, and Lucy Northcott all did well up forward to get themselves on the board with their first majors.

No difference in margin between the two quarters as the Panthers would head into the third up by 12-points.

Glenelg were unable to do anything through the strict defensive pressure from the Panthers.

Esther Schirmer was once again strong down back with a game high 10 intercept possessions.

At the stoppage the girls dominated, making lot of their plays through traffic.

Anderson would see her second go through during the middle portion of the term, while Shae Archbold would follow with her first after this.

The real star up forward was Lucy Northcott as she was dominant with her two majors, impressive with her strong hands and powerful leg.

After the surge and with one quarter to play the women’s, side were in the lead by 39-points.

It wasn’t changing in the last term, despite a scary start the girls were firm in their gameplan and made sure to put this one away.

Moving with purpose by foot across the ground and soaking up time when in possession. The backline especially.

Pressure was up even with the lead and Anderson would lead the tackle count with 8.

Lily Baxter, Hansen, and Archbold would extend the lead with their majors, and it was clear that the panthers were the team that was going to make it out of this one.

The girls side would end up winning by an impressive 54-points in a display which highlights the season as a whole.

This is the Panthers third highest score of all time, with South Adelaide notching up 13.9 (87) against Sturt in round 8 2018.

Saturday night's win is also the second highest score and win over Glenelg, with the highest being 12.11 (83) to Glenelg 0.1 (1) in round 9 2018.

Their final regular season game will be against Central District on Saturday the 15th at X Convenience Oval in a 3:50pm timeslot.
