South Adelaide's Under 18s remain undefeated in 2017, but came away from Prospect Oval with just a single point on Saturday, after a nail-biting draw with the Roosters.
Before the game, We introduced new comer Luke Bogle into the side for his first game at this level and welcomed back Bailey Snelling from an injury which occurred during preseason.
Luke played in the midfield and across half forward, while Bailey slotted back into his normal role as a Key Back to match up with North's tall forwards.
The first quarter saw us waste numerous opportunities going forward. We played with the advantage of a strong wind, but allowed North to play their style of footy and found ourselves down by 13 points at quartertime.
North Adelaide won the second quarter in a much better contest and we went into the halftime break facing a 17-point deficit.
We readjusted our game plan in the third quarter and to the teams credit they responded really well, delivering 5.4 to North's 2.2 and holding a three-point lead by the final break.
The last quarter was a real arm wrestle, with both teams kicking poorly for goals.
After Nick Steele kicked our only goal of the quarter at the 11 minute mark, North responded to tie up the game with just five minutes remaining.
Both teams were desperate and courageous, but didn't manage to score and after the some confusion following the final siren the game was declared a draw.
The bye this week couldn't have come at a better time as a lot of our lads need to rest their bodies and get ready to tackle Centrals on Saturday the 20th at Hickinbotham.

Best:
South Adelaide's Under 16s fell just short of registering a breakthrough win in their last game of the season, falling nine points short of North Adelaide at Prospect Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Going into our last game of the season the players and coaches were very focused on getting some reward for our efforts over the past three months.
Missing three players due to college and our leading goal kicker Daniel Sladojevic, it was important to find a few different avenues to goal. We started Mitch Riddle as our deep target and he proved a handful in the first quarter kicking two goals and more importantly, we headed in at quartertime with a three goal lead.
In the second quarter we were very competitive, but also unlucky as the breeze picked up we found ourselves kicking into a three goal wind. However, at halftime we still held a goal advantage over the Roosters.
In the third quarter, now kicking with the wind at our backs, it was going to be important to give ourselves a lead heading into the last quarter.
Unfortunately, we gave away two 50m penalties upon which the opposition capitalised and we came in at the last change at level pegging.
We started the last quarter with some great fight and spirit and kicked out to a two goal lead. Now the challenge was whether we could sustain that energy.
It was a very tight last quarter and we had our chances to win but a few decision making errors and disposal cost us late in the game.
Riddle was a standout on the day kicking 7.2 and looked lively all day.
