South Adelaide's Under 18s have continued their winning start to 2017 after claiming a 39-point victory in a physical contest with Glenelg.
The guys got off to a flying start, kicking 7.1 in the first quarter with the wind at the backs.
The second quarter was a more even affair on the scoreboard, but our guys still managed to outscore the Bays 4.3 to 3.2 despite kicking into the wind.
We went into halftime with a 45-point lead and confidence growing.
The players were expecting the opposition to come out all guns blazing after halftime, but to the credit of our group we were still able to manage momentum when needed and win the quarter by two points.
Unfortunately we lost Nathan Beenham from our midfield early in the quarter due to concussion and he was unable to take any further part in the game.
Moments later we also had James Bradford come off with a dislocated finger. Luckily James was able to return to the game late in quarter.
The players showed some real mental toughness during that quarter.
The last quarter turned into a shootout, with both teams taking the other on offensively.
The final margin was 39 points our way in another solid performance to start the year.
We now focus on our next game against Norwood this Saturday afternoon (2:10pm, April 29) back at Hickinbotham Oval.

After a tough start to the season, finding ourselves with a 0-4 record, it was important to get off to a fast start again Glenelg.
Unfortunately, the opposite was the case and we found ourselves down 6.2 to 1.1 at quartertime.
To the players credit, we fought hard through the second quarter and only lost the term by 10 points. We had plenty of opportunities during the term, but were sadly unable to capitalise on all of them.
Once again the third quarter was similarly even until Glenelg broke through with a flurry of three goals in three minutes.
The Bays owned the last quarter and ran away with a comfortable win.
With only two games remaining in our season it is important we finish the year off with some confidence playing against Norwood and North Adelaide.
