Round three saw the U18s take on North Adelaide away at Prospect on Saturday.
North ran away with the game in the last quarter which was a disappointing way for our boys to finish the game after competing hard for the majority of the match.
The first quarter was a tight contest despite the scoreboard favouring the home side, with North having five scoring shots for three goals compared to our four shots for one goal.
Early in the game we matched the opposition for contested ball, but we still struggled to maintain that intensity for long periods.
One area we were able to perform well in was our efficiency in our forward 50. We went at a 30% goals/entry ratio, which is up from the 24% we ran at in round two.
However, we do need to urgently start to evening up the possession count to give us an better chance to compete. On Saturday, we had 92 possessions less the opposition and 19 less forward 50 entries.
We need to reverse this trend very quickly starting this weekend against Centrals.

After a solid week at training with the focus being on our intensity and pressure the players jumped out of the blocks and set up a very handy five goals to one lead at quarter time.
However, a drop in intensity and poor decision making to start the second quarter hurt us and we allowed North to get back to within in three points midway through the quarter.
Thanks in large part to a best on ground performance, including thee goals in the second (5 for the game) and a number of contested possessions from Liam Hutchinson we were able to gain back the momentum and head into the main break with a three goal lead.
To the players credit they came out after half time and put on a dominant display of physical, fast and skillful football with a team first mentality and opened up a nine goal advantage heading into the final term.
We then controlled the last quarter to run away with a comfortable win.
Hutchinson, Tom Sparrow, and Sam Whitbread were best afield on the day, while Joel Beeche, Tyler Davies, Hayden Sampson and Job Colwell were also very good.
We now look forward to the challenge of taking on Centrals at home on Saturday 16 April at 11:25am.
