South Adelaide's Under-18s continued their winning ways with a 10.16 (76) to 11.8 (74) victory over Glenelg at Hickinbotham Oval on Saturday morning.

On Saturday at Hickinbotham Oval, the Under-18s faced off against a Glenelg team that were coming off a very good win against Norwood the week before.

Windy conditions meant the game would be heavily influenced by what team was able to slow the scoring of the other team when kicking against it.

In the first quarter the Glenelg players jumped out of the blocks kicking with the wind and getting five goals on the board to our two.

The three-goal advantage was more to do with their players wanting to get their hands on the ball first compared to our guys. When we did find the ball first we were not clean and often gave the ball back in very dangerous areas.

In the second quarter we were able to even up the game by scoring 4.4 to 0.2 while kicking with the wind. We had eight scoring shots and should have capitalised more from those opportunities.

Our mids and backs stood up well this quarter and were able to give us good field position.

The third quarter was similar to the first with Glenelg outscoring us four goals to two going with the wind.

Our ball movement going into the wind in this quarter was very good and allowed us six scoring shots. We kicked 2.4, with some of those behinds due to us not having shots in good positions in our forward 50.

We needed to work the ball into better areas in order to give us an easier shot.

The last quarter the whole team played well with the game in the balance right down to the last few minutes.

We were able to control the ball while running the clock down and take field position at the same time.

Overall it was a very good win considering Glenelg really challenged us in all four quarters.

We come up against West Adelaide this week at City Mazda Stadium after they had a close win over Centrals on Friday night.
