South Adelaide's Under 18's are on top of the ladder after recording a convincing 20.9 (129) to 10.4 (64) win over West Adelaide on Sunday afternoon - their fourth win in a row!
In hot conditions this week, we travelled to a neutral ground in Gliderol Stadium to play West Adelaide.
After a good start kicking the first three goals we let West back into the game with some uncharacteristic mistakes.
When James Grimley kicked his third for the quarter we looked like we had the momentum back until West took a mark and kicked a goal after the siren.
After taking a 16-point lead into the first change we started well in the second with goals to Daniel Sladojevic, Job Colwell and Sam Renney.
Hayden Sampson and Tom Sparrow starting to impose themselves on the game and we seemed to have control. However, again we gave up a couple of late ones to allow West to keep them in touch and we took just a 24-point advantage into the main break.
I think we dominated our third quarter with most of it being played in our front half. Overall we kicked 6.3 to West's solitary goal. With five different goal scorers in the quarter we looked hard to stop.
We came out strong in the last quarter kicking the first two goals. It looked like the game could blow out, but we lost some of our concentration.
West kicked four goals to show us we still have some work to do in a few areas.
Having said that it was a great effort to win by 65 points and the players should be proud of the way they presented themselves.
Grimley was really good kicking 6.2, while Reece Milson had his best game of the year for us on the wing.
Sparrow and Sampson continue to push their case for state selection and Jake Tarca showed glimpses of what he can do in his four goals.
This week we travel to Unley Oval (Saturday, April 28, 11:00am) to play reigning premiers Sturt, who have won their last two games and are in good form.

South Adelaide's Under-16s registered a wire-to-wire 14.10 (94) to 6.8 (44) win over West Adelaide at Gliderol Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
We were coming off a gutsy win against the Eagles last week, where the players showed great courage and determination in the last three quarters.
It was going to be important the players brought the same attitude against the undefeated West Adelaide.
In a dominant first quarter where we totally outplayed West Adelaide with our pressure around the contest we went in at quarter time up 30 on the back of 16 inside 50s to two.
The second quarter was a little more of an arm wrestle and we managed to break even going in at half time holding our five goal lead.
The players were really focused on keeping the pressure on the opposition in the third quarter and not give the opposition a chance of getting back into the contest.
To their credit that is exactly what they did. They increased the pressure and opposition started to play the man and not the ball.
In the last we managed to out score West four goals to one and run away with a comfortable 50 point win.
The players showed great character and a hunger for the contest which is really exciting in their development.
