The Women’s league team continues their impressive undefeated start, and the development squad bounce back.
Faced with perfect conditions at Flinders University Stadium it was set to be a good game.
It was a congested game to start off. The first major score of the game was produced by a great leading ball forward by Caitlin Ross, which managed to get into the hands of Kyanne Campbell who ran into an open goal.
It wouldn't be until the third quarter when the next major score would be provided, but in the scoring lapse it was the Senna Gulden show. Racking up plenty of the ball and providing plenty of options for the squad.
The next major score would come from Lily Baxter off of a lovely centring ball in the pocket from Lucy Northcott.
As the quarter would progress the Panthers would conceded two goals through West Adelaide's Steph Treadwell, causing the Panthers fall behind by 9 points heading into the last.
The midfield and clearance work would be crucial in winning this game, after a quick exit from the centre bounce, some swift hands up forward from Kyanne Campbell would result in returning Panther Jordann Hickey kicking a vital goal.
The job was not finished and the continued effort from Holly Ifould who had been electric all day was required around the ground.
The next ten minutes of the game saw a lot of defensive football off the back of Esther Schirmer who displayed immaculate pressure deep in the opposing fifty.
The breakthrough would come from Kyanne Campbell managing to sneak away from her defender as she kicked her second of the game and gave the Panthers the lead.
As it transpired South would hold on despite West Adelaide’s efforts and notch the third win of the season and remain as the only undefeated team in the competition.
The Women’s League team hopes to continue this win streak in a fortnight against Central District fresh off their win against Norwood.

A heartbreaking loss last week against a strong Norwood unit caused the development squad to be hungry for a win against the undefeated West Adelaide.
A dominant first quarter display by the crew led to a 7-point margin heading into the second, thanks to an impressive set shot by Abby Woodward in her first game of the season.
The next two quarters were a dog fight to say the least, some inaccuracy around the sticks within the second quarter and conceding 2.2 allowed West Adelaide to claw right back into the game with an 11-point lead headed into the fourth.
All hope seeming to be lost the squad rallied; a combined effort up forward and around the ground was necessary and the team delivered this and then some.
The final term seeing four individual goal scorers.
First of these coming from Bella Rigby with a lovely pickup off the pack and finish in front.
After a West Adelaide blunder out of the defensive fifty it was Melissa Anderson who struck and kicked a booming goal off her explosive right boot.
The hot streak continued as the Panthers managing to quickly get it out of the middle and into the hands of Nicole Mark directly in front, leading to the third goal of the quarter.
A great passage of play starting from the middle saw the ball end up with Emily Franklin, displaying immaculate contested marking skills in front of goal.
The follow through was just as special as it sealed the squads fourth major score of the quarter.
Although the display in the forward fifty was nothing but exceptional the effort around the ground by Nari Wright was incredible, paired with the ruck work by Jacinda Schunselaar made for a tough matchup for the West Adelaide midfield.
The development squad will look to continue the solid start in a fortnight against Central District at the Posderosa.
