The South Adelaide Football Club welcomes the announcement yesterday by Premier Peter Malinauskas of the building of hundreds of homes on the vacant land outside the Club’s boundary at Noarlunga Downs.

Renewal SA will deliver 600 homes adjacent to football club and on the other side of the railway line in Noarlunga Downs with the first homes expected to be ready in 2026.

South Adelaide Football Club CEO Neill Sharpe said it was pleasing to learn of this development which finally puts to rest the Southern Sporting Complex.

“When the Club moved to Noarlunga Downs in 1995 it was meant to include a number of other sporting codes, with rugby, soccer, netball, cricket, BMX and even harness racing being discussed at various times to be part of the wider footprint of the Southern Sporting Complex."

"However, South Adelaide has remained the sole tenant at the site and the paddocks around us have remained vacant."

“It will be exciting to finally see a community grow around us and a great opportunity for dialogue with all levels of Government on how to best activate and invest in the South Adelaide Football Club for the benefit of our new neighbours and the wider southern community.”
