Club Statement – Zac Dumesny
South Adelaide Football Club player Zac Dumesny will not play football for an indefinite period after undergoing brain surgery recently.
Following some on-going health concerns Zac saw a neurosurgeon and an MRI revealed a growth on his brain that required immediate surgery.
While the surgery went well the recovery period is significant and the immediate risks posed by a contact sport will rule him out of returning to the sport for some time.
South Adelaide General Manager of Football Brent Reilly said Zac is recovering well following the surgery.
“Zac was training very well and was in great shape to have a good year for the Panthers. It’s a credit to his parents that they followed through with their concerns with Zac’s health before it became a greater issue."
“Zac will be in and around the club throughout the season and a game day role will be offered to him when he is feeling up to it. Zac and his family have been in good spirits and have embraced the road ahead for Zac to make a full recovery and to live a normal life.”
Zac played 7 games in 2022 bringing his club total to 13 after coming through the Club’s junior program.
