Club Statement - Board Changes
South Adelaide Football Club President Margaret Nyland AM will finish her term on the Board at the Club’s Annual General Meeting on February 19.
Elected to the Board at the 2017 AGM, Ms Nyland has served two three years terms as President of the Football Club.
A long-time South supporter and former Supreme Court judge, Ms Nyland was the first female to be President of a SANFL Club when elected to the position in December 2017.
South Adelaide CEO Neill Sharpe paid tribute to Ms Nyland for her contribution as President.
“Margaret is a very passionate South Adelaide supporter that became President of the Club at a very challenging time.
“As President she has been able to solidify the Club financially, navigate the Covid years and champion the Club in the community, especially with female football.
“She’s been extremely resilient in battling her own health challenges in recent years and we certainly understand that she needs to focus on those moving forward.
“We thank Margaret for her commitment to the Club over the last six years and look forward to seeing her at the footy in 2024.”
Along with Margaret Nyland AM current Board members not seeking re-nomination are Football Director Andrew Thornton and Board appointed Director Danielle Brautigan.
“We are grateful for the energy and commitment that Andrew and Danielle have brought to the Club and look forward to them continuing to support the Panthers.”
With the Club updating its Constitution in 2023 all six member elected Board positions have been declared vacant leading up to the February 19 Annual General Meeting.
Nominations for the vacant Board positions close at 5pm today (February 5).
Once nominations are finalised the Club will shortly advise the process for Board elections if they should be required.
