Building Burgers for McHappy Day
A host of SANFL players will be flipping burgers on Saturday October 14 when they throw their support behind McHappy Day.
South Adelaide's Scott Taylor, Richard Newell, Ben Heaslip, Connor Fairlie, Ben Millman and Jake Tarca will be appearing at various McDonald's outlets across the Panthers metropolitan and country zone.
Celebrated across Australia, McHappy Day raises much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, with a target of $4 million set this year for seriously ill children and their families.
These funds are put towards accommodation and other products and services required by families who are affected by serious illness, helping their child on the road to recovery.RMHC provide a home-away-from-home to families while their child undergoes treatment for serious illness or injury at a nearby hospital, ensuring that families can stay close together.
There are currently 16 houses in Australia, which provide over 8,400 families per year with accommodation and support services while their child undergoes treatment at a nearby hospital.Other support services offered by RMHC include Family Rooms, which provide a relaxing haven within hospitals giving families a break from the stress of many hours spent by their child's bedside, and The Ronald McDonald Learning Program that currently helps over 1,200 children a week catch up on missed schooling.
Since opening the doors of its first house in 1981, RMHC has supported more than 106,000 families. Now in its 27th year, McHappy Day provides customers with the chance to purchase a Big Mac for just $2, the entire proceeds donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
