The Panthers bounce back against the old foe.

It has been a less than ideal start for the league side going down last week against Norwood, leading to a 0-2 record. It was time to turn this around against North Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

It was an offensive masterclass in the first quarter. The league side putting their foot down and slotting 5 majors.

Jess Waterhouse got the ball rolling with a soccer kick on the move, very fitting for her and the skills she possesses.

North would reply shortly after but as it turned out it would be the last time; they slot a major.

The league side began to dominate Emily Brockhurst was next up after her set-shot from 20-metres out was smooth.

Emma Charlton looked great on debut and her goal followed this trend, while being hunted down she’d slot one on the line.

The run didn’t stop Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap andLauren Clifton would each slot one in quick succession, giving the panthers a major lead, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

Headed into the second quarter with a comfy 25-point lead the league side would slow up and lockdown, neither side kicking a major in the second.

However, it was fair to say that Nikki Nield was putting her foot down, off the back of an impressive knock out last week she’d continue her form with a 26-disposal affair.

Great pressure was being displayed on all levels, causing North to be scrappy a game style the league side would live with.

At the half it was all in the Panthers favour, maintaining the 25-point lead. In the third the side would put the opposition to bed.

Brockhurst was impressive and showed her presence up forward, securing two majors in the term, one early after clearance straight from the middle, running onto a leading ball and kicking it from within the square.

North couldn’t keep it out of the forward half, and it would take a series of minor scores before Brockhurst was back and putting the final nail in the coffin, her set-shot from 20-metres out on the slight angle looking pure.

It was fair to say the league side were hungry for this one. The tackle count reflecting this, 66 would occur in the contest and Waterhouse would lead this charge with 8.

The fourth term was the league sides to lose and neither side would kick a major leaving this contest in the Panthers hands, winning by 42-points.

With this newly found momentum will roll into round 4 against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday the 23rd at Flinders University Stadium in a 4:40pm timeslot.

Due to heat conditions in round 2 the development squad had a week off but, an extra bit of rest should see some fresh legs ready to go against North Adelaide in round 3.

The first term was tight as both sides were finding their rhythm early, both kicking one major each.

Jorja Hooper would strike early after a big grab on the edge of the square. Her kick was pure, and the Panthers were looking the goods.

Pressure was up and it was clear that the girls were hunting from the first bounce.

The first would end with the girls up by 2 points. In the second term they began to peel away a touch.

Nicole Campbell was strong in this term, moving well and being dominant around the ground. Jess Kirk would kick the only major of the term.

It was a close contest at half time but, it was still the panther’s game only up by 1-point.

The build of momentum was steady, and it was evident that it was going to be a four-quarter effort.

One major was scored in the quarter, and it was the classiest of the day, Hope Taylor would take the ball straight out the ruck contest on the boundary and slot one on the move from 25-metres out.

Headed into the last term it was still close only 8-points were in it. However, in the last they began to run away with it.

Jorja Hooper went to work kicking two majors, all but sealing the deal for the squad one coming early from the top of the square and another mid-way through from 25-metres out after a strong leading grab.

The contest would end with the development squad in the winner’s column, a tough 20-point win, Caitlin Radbone being a difference maker with her quick feet and pinpoint skills.

In round 4 the squad will take on Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday the 23rd at Flinders University Stadium in a 6:50pm timeslot.
