2025 Pinktails Guernsey
Panthers Announce New Pinktails & Redtails First Nations Guernsey.
The South Adelaide Football Club is proud to unveil its new Pinktails clash guernsey, which will be worn in the 2025 and 2026 Hostplus SANFLW league seasons. This guernsey will not only serve as a clash uniform but will also be featured in Round 2 against North Adelaide for the Pinktails/Redtails Right Tracks Program Cup, as well as during First Nations rounds.
For the 2023 and 2024 seasons, including the 2024 Grand Final, the Panthers' Pinktail clash guernsey was designed by Pinktail Shannon Hanning. The latest iteration has been designed by 2024 Premiership player Doreena Hansen, adding another meaningful layer to the club’s ongoing collaboration with the Pinktails/Redtails Right Tracks Program.
In an exciting addition, the Panthers' senior men’s team will also wear a variant of this design for their First Nations round games—against the Eagles in Round 7 and Glenelg at Magain Stadium in Round 8.
2024 Premiership player and guernsey designer Doreena Hansen expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.
“Thank you to the South Adelaide Football Club for this incredible honour and for giving me the chance to express myself and share a piece of my story through this guernsey,” Hansen said.
“I’m proud to wear it alongside my South teammates, especially my Pinktail girls. It’s even more special knowing that some of the Redtails lads will also wear a version of this guernsey in the men’s competition.”
“Special thanks to Rob Clarke for his continuous guidance and support.”
The guernsey reflects Doreena’s journey in both football and life, acknowledging the challenges she has faced.
Two Emus - One on the front and one on the back, representing Doreena and her sister, Dalaicee. The emu is their family totem, symbolising their deep connection to their heritage.
Flowing Lines - Featured on both the front and back, these lines represent the MacDonnell Ranges in Alice Springs, where Doreena spent time with the Pinktails.
Water Symbol - Located on the lower right rear, this represents Lake Mary Ann in Tennant Creek, where Doreena was born and where her family still resides.
Seven Dotted Circles - These circles signify key elements in Doreena’s journey: family, spirit/identity, training, football, leadership, the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program, and the South Adelaide Football Club.
Pinktail Cockatoo - Featured once again on the back of the jumper, reinforcing the connection between South Adelaide and the Pinktails/Redtails Right Tracks Program.
Through the design process, Hansen gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of support in all aspects of life. She reflected on how crucial it is to step back and recognise the value of connections and support systems in both personal and professional growth.
The men’s version of the guernsey also incorporates elements celebrating the club’s history. It features the old-style SA monogram on the front to mark the Panthers’ 30th year at Noarlunga. Additionally, the cockatoo on the back of the men’s guernsey has red tails instead of pink, distinguishing the two designs while maintaining the shared symbolism.
South Adelaide Female Football Manager Jonathon Parker highlighted the significance of the new design and its connection to the club’s ongoing commitment to the Pinktails/Redtails Right Tracks Program.
“Working closely with Rob Clarke and Doreena Hansen, it’s been fantastic to create a design that tells a meaningful story and symbolises our strong connection with the program, along with Doreena's journey” Parker said.
“We're fortunate to wear this jumper over the next two years, and having the men’s team wear the same design in First Nations round for the first time is truly exciting.”
Pinktails/Redtails Right Tracks Program President Rob Clarke expressed his gratitude for the ongoing collaboration with South Adelaide.
“First and foremost, I extend my gratitude to the South Adelaide Football Club for incorporating a second Pinktail into the design of the SAFC Indigenous guernsey,” Clarke said.
“The first was Shannon Hanning in 2023, with whom I had the honour of working, and now we have Doreena Hansen for the second edition. It’s been a privilege to help bring the 2025 version to life with her.”
“This has provided an incredible opportunity for both Doreena and me to work together in designing the 2025 SAFC Indigenous and clash jumper for the upcoming season, covering the entire senior program—including both men’s and women’s teams.”
Clarke also emphasised the significance of these opportunities for Indigenous athletes.
“The narratives behind both of our Pinktails are remarkable, as are the designs themselves. Personally, I find it inspiring how significant these opportunities have been for these incredibly resilient women. The accomplishments they have achieved have not come without challenges, yet they continue to persevere.”
“True leadership is not defined by one’s prowess, speed, skill, or success. It is about striving to ensure that no one is left behind and prioritising the needs of others. While achieving this is undoubtedly challenging, it’s clear that we are indeed on the Right Tracks.”
The Panthers will wear this version of the Pinktails Guernsey for the first time in Saturdays second trial against the Eagles.
All the action kicks off with the Development League Round 2 game at 10:30 am followed by the SANFLW trial 2 at 12:30 pm, with the 2025 Season launch kicking off at 3:30 pm in the Peter Darley Function room, everyone is welcome.
