2024 ANZAC Guernsey
South Adelaide Football Club Pays Tribute on ANZAC Day
This Saturday, as South Adelaide Football Club takes to the field against West Adelaide, they will once again don a commemorative guernsey, a poignant gesture to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Embracing the traditional South Adelaide Hoops, this special guernsey bears the image of a soldier, graciously provided by the family of Corporal Scott Smith.
Corporal Scott Smith tragically passed away in 2012 while bravely serving in Afghanistan.
The soldier depicted on the guernsey symbolises the valorous efforts of our armed forces, capturing a moment of soldiers being extracted from a village in the Helmand provance in Afghanistan.
Additionally, the guernsey's hoops feature a camouflage pattern, paying tribute to the courageous men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation.
Inside the collar, "Lest We Forget" serves as a reminder to the players of the sacrifices made by those who came before them.
Furthermore, adorning the left chest is the ANZAC Appeal logo, marking a commitment to auction a limited number of match-worn guernseys, with proceeds directly benefiting the RSL ANZAC Day Appeal.

South Adelaide CEO Neill Sharpe expressed the club's deep honour in producing this ANZAC guernsey:
"ANZAC Day is a day for remembering and taking a moment to reflect and to acknowledge those who have served our country."
"I know our players will have a genuine sense of pride in wearing this special guernsey."
The club extends its gratitude to the RSL Morphett Vale & District Sub-branch for their unwavering support and looks forward to participating in their Dawn Service on Anzac Day once again.
Continuing a recent tradition, the club will present the Frank Barry Medal to the League team’s best player during the ANZAC Round.
This year, Luke Adamson will have the honour of presenting the medal.
Named after South Adelaide's inaugural Magarey Medallist, Frank "Dinky" Barry, the medal pays homage to Barry's outstanding contributions to the sport and his service during World War I.
Barry's legacy of excellence on the field and bravery in battle serves as an inspiration to all.
The ANZAC Round match between West Adelaide and South Adelaide will be held at Hisense Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with kickoff at 2:10 PM following the Reserves at 11:20 AM.
Additionally, the RSL Morphett Vale & District Sub-branch ANZAC Day Dawn Service will take place at the Onkaparinga Memorial Garden on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, starting at 6:00 AM. Following the service, a "gunfire" breakfast will be hosted at the Sub Branch, with entertainment scheduled throughout the day, beginning at 11:00 AM.
